Fall at last

Veronik on Jul 22nd 2008

My work conflicts with having a blog - what inspires to write is what I’m working on at the moment, which is precisely what I can’t write about. The most I can divulge is a tiny little glimpse.

One project that has been glimpsed before is the Fresco vest for classic elite - you may remember back in April when I was steeking it - which I *think* may end up being on the back cover of a mag. I sure hope so, as I have never made the cover and the running joke in this household is that I’m lucky to have made the cover of my own book!

There’s more, but I’ll save it for another day. I’m just getting over a terrible cold. Also, I’m afraid I have sad news: my beloved cat has taken ill. I won’t go into details, but there is little that can be done apart from just babying her. She’ll probably be with us for another year or so, but knowing that she won’t be with us beyond that is heart breaking.

Veronik, I am so sorry to read that your cat is ill. We have eight pets at present - five cats and three dogs - all rescues and several of them well advanced in age. Although over the years we have been through the process of end-of-life care and eventual loss with other beloved pets, it just never becomes easy. They are all loved, and they are all missed. They say that wisdom is to see the end in the beginning, but that wisdom carries so much sadness as its cost!

I will be thinking of you as I care for our own senior citizens and try to make each of their days ones that I would want to be provided for me. In the end, I think that is the best we can do for one another.

Take care. I will look forward to your cover appearance. Your work is beautiful. Do keep us all posted!

I just love your designs. The vest is GORGEOUS and the perfect use for some yarn that I have in my stash. Now I just have to find the booklet!
I’m really sorry to hear about your cat. At least you will have some time to say goodbye to her, and she’ll feel your love all the way.

I know the dilemma! You know what works is writing about other people, but that would quickly turn your blog into a gossip column.. :) you can always write about the weather, too…weather is always a good scapegoat

Veronik, I’m so sorry to hear about your cat. Friends of mine with cats always seem to have cats fail because of kidney issues. It’s so sad to know that your time with her is limited.

On the design note, your vest for Classic Elite is gorgeous. I so wish I were accomplished enough in fair isle to give it a go. I’m eager to see what other unbloggable goodies you have in store for us :)

So sorry about your cat! Enjoy the year that you have left even if it is sad.

The vest is absolutely gorgeous. I may have to buy the book to get the pattern! I can’t wait to see what else you have been cooking up and not showing us.

Veronik, I’m so sorry to hear about your cat. The Cornell Veterinary School has good online resources here: http://www.vet.cornell.edu/fhc/ Once again, EZ’s words ring true: “Knit on, through all crises.”

I’m very sorry about your cat. I love pets and it’s very sad that they have to leave us so soon.

I had a cat before I had a child, and he will always sort of feel like my “first born”. Enjoy the time you have with her- is it Fly or Nin?

    p.s. The vest is beautiful!
